We are a group of people that generally an illigal hysterectomy has been done to. Some accounts more horrendous than others. I say this, as different people are appauled by different things. For example one man I was talking to, the most horrifying thing to him (as a husband whos wife had been had been under the consultant that alledgidy authorised my mutilation) was the fact, that my husband was NOT told before they carried out mutilation.

I am delighted to say that not only do we have people that have had to endure this first hand, we are slowly find others that are willing to help us in many different ways, that are all appauled that this is happening in this day and age. We have a couple of medical people and hope that we will find more.

We also await accounts from others that in some cases have had planned hysterectomies and that regret it, every hour of every day and also from people that refuse to have one as they have a loved one that is suffering.

There is not a lot we can do except hope to reduce the number of people illegally hysterectomized. We wish others to have a basic right of making an informed decison. We give out this information, some of it quite personal to prevent you being part of it unless you truly believe that it is the right decision for you.

Some of this information may be of use to you if you are considering a hysterectomy. I personally do not shy away from the impact on the ending of my life, to the exsistance that I now have. You do not know how a hysterectomy will effect you, everyone is different, however you should never think, ‘oh that wont happen to me’. If your not prepared to accept that as a consequence, is it the right operation for you?

Far too many doctors will not give the true consequences of pregnancy and or caesarean and or hysterectomy. We are trying to have this information brought out into the open however the media will NOT cover it.

Some doctors / midwives refuse to say what happened to us. When we try to give out the information we are accused of scare mongering. Unless you know the truth about what can happen … how are you making an informed decision? That is all we are trying to do.

There are far too many of us that wish we had read this before the arrival of child.

My ‘story’ first appeared on www.radmid.demon.co.uk. Over the years I have spoken to / met people that have read my story. One lady said ‘I always wondered what happened to you’. She found out 2 years after she first read my story. It is not a happy story and I was worried that some that read it may not believe it. She said that she had never not believed it, I was pleased. My account is true. I do not need to lie. I do not have a job to safeguard. I just do not want anyone else to endure what I have to unless they decide to. Another lady who knows me, she had had people relate my story to her. Some had had miscarriages or still births. I am pleased to say it helped those particular ladies.

If after reading information here please take the time to let us know if you have dealt with things differently. I know that nearly 4000 people had looked in on my original story and a few people did let me know they had changed their plans and so on.

I am Anna, I was given a post pregnancy hysterectomy. I did not want it, I refused consent for it, I do not believe that I needed it. Not only did they take my uterus, they stole my cervix and also undertook a form of female circumcision.

I want you to make the informed decision I was denied.

We sincerely thank all those that have taken the time and found the courage to contribute to this site. Some people you can easily see, others that have just given a little piece of information to help complete a jigsaw or take the time to ask questions on our behalf that are not obvious when given in a paragraph or on the questionnaire. The questionnaire has taken three years to compile and I am sure it has not yet finished. The questions are compiled from my experiences and others asking me questions and then realising it is relevant to several people.
