Michelle’s journey of giving others a chance via egg donation ...

Well its a LONG journey.

One clnic said that until we had a surrogate / completed our family they would not allow me to be an egg donor. Seems to be a common theme. I explained that we will never complete our family as we had hoped for a large family and even IF we were successful with surrogacy we could not afford to to do it enough times to complete our family even if the statistics were on our side! This was ignored.

We also highlighted that we may never find a surrogate and all these eggs are going to waste ... again to no avail.

Went to another clinic a some time later and after a chat with the councellor / doctor / tests, and passed so now waiting to try to be an anonymous donor. Has been taking a long time.

If we can have this shuffling along hope to help a known couple/family next time. If the anonymous does not come to fruition then hope to go on to help a known couple/family.

I have had to endure quite a lot of negative comments and have been quite shocked by them. Lots of people have said that I should not even be considering helping anyone as no one has helped us. I find this VERY hard. We have a wonderful child, I know what my eggs are able to help create, I could not take that chance from someone else.

People also say about me giving someone else a child when I can not have anymore (after many many years of hoping for surrogacy it is looking extremely unlikely). I am NOT giving someone a child, I am only giving them a CHANCE. It is not up to me, them or the doctors if they have a child, it is up to God, Fate or whatever ....

So I just hope that these little eggies are soon able to be given a chance as at the moment they just float into my vault to be absorbed by my body - no use to anyone .... unless a few billion to one chance of an abdominal pregnancy - well we can hope/dream .....
