Some others in this position do not feel as I do, many do. I have asked people from both sides to write up there version of events, I know some will and hope that others will also.
I have also compiled a questionnaire that I hope people will fill in so we can start to collect data. This will be in two forms. One is already on here the other is for statistics to start being compiled and to include those that wish to be anonymous.
Some of us have written letters to different departments that we will put the letters on here so you can make your own decisions about what is being said about the situation
We have tried to collect the alleged statistics of how often this is being done by different hospitals. Even tough these statistics are available to the public most hospitals are refusing to given them out. We will start to give a list of those that give out the statistics and those, which refuse.
We have tried to contact the hospitals to ask that our details be passed on to others that this has been done to offer support from people that know. This has not been accepted. One person asked a doctor for this as she felt it would help her but nothing came of it. Another was threatened with the removal of her cervix or ovaries if she succeeded and ever came back to tat hospital for any treatment (there was even a witness with her).
These little examples may give you a better insight as to what is really going on.
We will add links to sites that give other procedures that can save uteri. You can then cross reference with your notes to see if your doctors used these or if they would.
We also wish to try and give as much information as we can about transplants. Many of us still wish to carry our future children and so this information is important to us.
We also hope to begin compiling what is really still going on in hospitals. The rules are that no one should have any operation unless they have given informed consent. For example no woman going in for a routine hysterectomy should come out without her ovaries unless she has given informed consent for this. We know this is not happening so we hope that we will be able to bring you those real life accounts
We also wish to cover women that went in for other gynaecological procedures only to leave hospital with a hysterectomy, they did not expect or want.
We also wish to bring accounts from women that had routine hysterectomies and are not happy. They may feel they gave a form of consent however they were not told the true implications and so do not feel they gave ‘informed consent’. I have heard from many women saying ‘if I know then what I know now I would never had had the operation’. How is that informed consent?
