Why Promotion of *a little wish* is important

Instead of members of a little wish trying to explain the importance of the site, Anna asked others what it mean to them ...

Dear All
The is a CHANCE that on the back of another article we MAY be able to have a little wish's details in a newspaper !!!!!!

Many of you know how long we have been fighting for this and how we have been shuffled away.  For those of you who have or know of someone that can pass on their account and complete the questioniare for post pregnancy hysterectomy that would be great.

For those of you that can spare a few minutes I would like to start comiling a page that explains how important it is to have the details of a little wish with an article.  So if your able to write a line or two either about informed consent or if it has helped you or someone you know etc please send them to alittlewish_as(abcd)@hotmail.com (please delete the (abcd) as we just do not have the time to organise a petition type of thing ... if you leave a first (and seond name) and a location/country that would be helpful

As you know this MAY be ALW's ONLY chance and none of us wish to waste it.  It may NOT go ahead, or the editor may take the link out so this is why passing on the page and others views may help.

Michelle Barnes Sheffield, South Yorks - My first child was born in hospital. A very traumatic experience that ended in an emergency caesarean under General Anaesthetic which could have been prevented. I was left alone for a long time and then subjected to unnecessary hospital procedures without my informed consent. I spent a long time psychologically preparing myself for another baby and I made an informed choice to have my next baby at home. I expected to be supported by the NHS but instead I was subjected to constant scare mongering and unsupportive behaviour. The only real risks stated are always the worst case scenario - bleeding to death etc. Based on my previous experience and the fact that I am healthy I consider a homebirth safe if not safer than hospital, and after reading ‘A Little Wish’ I also conclude that many of the worst case scenarios actually happen in hospital. It is increasingly common that women are having problems getting support for planned homebirths, despite their right to give birth in the safety of their own homes. I have therefore set-up a petition to improve accessibility of homebirths http://petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=2634. The petition has only been running just over a week and already 169 people have added there name to it.

Yaz, Midlands - There's not really much support for the few people who've had to go through this. Through 'alittlewish' at least I know that I am not on my own and that there are other people who have had similar or even worse experiences than me - essential when you are going through something as horrendous as this that changes you and your life and your family's life forever. No one else really understands.
